The primary federal workforce development program. Provides training funds for eligible adults (18+), dislocated workers, and youth. Administered locally through CareerSource Pinellas and Hillsborough.

Eligible if you are: Unemployed, underemployed, or recently laid off and seeking in-demand occupations (IT and cybersecurity qualify).

VA Education Benefits

GI Bill & VET TEC Program

Veterans have two options: use GI Bill benefits for tuition and housing allowance, or the VET TEC program which pays 100% of tuition for high-tech training without using GI Bill entitlement.

Eligible if you are: An honorably discharged veteran, or on active duty with remaining service commitment. VET TEC requires at least one day of GI Bill entitlement remaining.
Process: Apply at VA.gov → Receive Certificate of Eligibility → BTG Academy submits enrollment certification.

Federal need-based grants for undergraduate students. Does not need to be repaid. Available to students who have not earned a bachelor's degree and demonstrate financial need.

Eligible if you are: A U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, enrolled in an eligible program, with demonstrated financial need based on FAFSA.
Process: Complete FAFSA at StudentAid.gov → Review award letter → Pell Grant applied directly to tuition.

DOL Registered Apprenticeship

Department of Labor

Earn while you learn

Employer-sponsored apprenticeship programs combine paid on-the-job learning with related technical instruction. Cybersecurity and IT occupations are priority sectors for DOL apprenticeship investments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to repay government training funds?

No. WIOA, CareerSource, and state grant funds are grants — not loans. Veterans using GI Bill or VET TEC benefits are similarly not obligated to repay. You are not taking on debt by using these programs.

How long does WIOA approval take?

The approval process typically takes 2–4 weeks after your initial CareerSource appointment. BTG Academy can provide a quote letter for your case manager immediately after you contact us. We recommend beginning the process at least 4 weeks before your intended start date.

Can I use employer tuition reimbursement?

Yes. BTG Academy provides detailed invoices, course descriptions, and learning outcome documentation suitable for employer tuition reimbursement programs. We can also provide Net30 invoicing directly to your employer's accounts payable department.

What is the VET TEC program for veterans?

VET TEC (Veteran Employment Through Technology Education Courses) is a VA program that pays 100% of tuition for qualifying high-tech training programs. Veterans do not use GI Bill entitlement for VET TEC — it's a separate benefit. Eligible fields include cybersecurity, IT, data processing, and computer programming.

Is BTG Academy an approved training provider?

BTG Academy is completing registration as a training provider with CareerSource Pinellas and the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Contact us to confirm current approval status for your specific funding program before beginning your application.
